About Biraj Basak

With over 14 years of experience as a research in the field of soil science particularly soil chemistry, fertility and plant nutrition. I have contributed to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in development and evaluation of low-cost organo-mineral fertilisers and soil amendments. At the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), I conducted research on exploration and development of low cost nutrient sources for improving soil fertility, plant nutrition and crop productivity, and published multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals. I also partnered with other researchers and stakeholders to develop and disseminate technology for utilisation of rock and mineral powder for environmental and agricultural sustainability and also best management practices for farmers and policymakers. As a senior scientist at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, I worked on a short-term project to evaluate the impact of organic nutrient management on soil and crop quality and waste and biomass valorisation. I am passionate about solving the challenges of food security, climate change, and sustainable development, and I seek to leverage my expertise and skills in soil science to create positive outcomes for the environment and society.
