About Birgit Arkesteijn

I have over 15 years of experience in software engineering. Over the years I have worked in many different industries including Telecoms, Tourism, Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Information Services. My background is broad, having worked with many different programming languages and programming environments. My assignments have ranged from database design & implementation, web implementation, Java user interface applications, Java web applets and servlets, networking protocols to audio codecs. The majority of my projects have involved small teams (fewer than 10 people), gaining me experience and expertise in all areas of the software engineering cycle, from quotation & capturing requirements to deployment and maintenance. Working in this way allows me to manage my own time, which is a particular strength of mine. Others strengths include an excellent eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget. Working in the field as a technical expert is a challenge I really enjoy. In particular working through problems and difficulties to find sound technical solutions is rewarding. This process also keeps me connected to learning new technologies and tools. My ideal role would allow me to use these strengths in a technical environment and possibly expand into team leading in a small team environment.
