About Blake Harmon

I have held a job since I was 12 years old. I have done everything from bike mechanic to working graphic design. My speciality is in the outdoor industry. I graduated high school through what is known as the Outdoor Leadership Academy, this was a highly selective program that I went alongside high school. This program taught me not only key skills to stay safe while in the backcountry but how to lead and keep others safe. This program was as much about the outdoors as it was leadership. Throughout high school I would lead elementary through high schoolers into the backcountry, where we would backcountry ski, rock climb, fly fish, backpack, and just about any other activity you can do in the mountains. It would be my job to help plan these trips, and then go out and lead these students into the mountains to experience the beauty this earth holds. Along with this, I have worked multiple labor intensive jobs all of which I have enjoyed and taught me a powerful work ethic. I have worked two jobs for Sun Valley Company being a ski instructor and mountain bike patroller (think ski patrol in the summer). I have really enjoyed working for Sun Valley Company. I am an avid mountain biker and skier. I have raced mountain bikes and competitively skied freestyle all of my life. Along with mountain biking and skiing, I love just about every other action sport imaginable. Living this very outdoor oriented life has taught me a lot. I think the two most important things are how to think critically, and how to deal with people especially when pressure can be high. Thinking critically is one of my strongest traits, throughout all my different experiences and hobbies I have learned how to look at problems through multiple lenses and I always am willing to offer an extra opinion or solution. Many people would say I am very outgoing, sociable, and kindhearted. I really enjoy talking to people, and workingto find solutions that were never even thought possible.
