About Blake Jones

Blake is an experienced, deal-driven corporate, private funds and family office executive, board member and attorney with significant practice in capital markets and investment transactions, the electric industry, the natural gas industry, and regulation. He routinely wears multiple hats: legal, investment, development, compliance, and information technology and cybersecurity.His background includes representing public and private companies, private equity firms (and their portfolio companies), hedge funds, venture capital companies, family offices, and ultra-high net worth individuals. Notably, Blake served as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Hayman Capital Management LP and J. Kyle Bass’s family office until 2019 when he joined a start-up that he founded and later exited. Blake’s extensive experience encompasses global capital markets, investment transactions (including crypto and blockchain), debt and equity financings, corporate and M&A transactions, natural gas and renewable energy transactions, derivatives, project finance transactions, EPC and construction contracts, supply chain contracts, employment activities, intellectual property, and complex litigation. Blake has also designed, implemented, and operated programs related to SEC, CFTC, FERC, and NERC compliance. Since 2016, he has counseled clients on the formation of ESG Committees and best practices in ESG policies. Specific accomplishments include supporting (i) a renewable energy developer in the acquisition of a solar project and a subsequent joint venture agreement,(ii) a large privately held company in the development of a renewable diesel a family office in its investment in a biomedical company,(iv) a fund of funds in an investment in an eSports company,(v) a family office and food service company in multiple investment transactions,(vi) Hayman Capital Management LP and its founder J. Kyle Bass in numerous cutting edge investment transactions, and (vii) Panda Power Funds in developing/acquiring and financing over $6 billion in natural gas-fueled electric generation facilities, winning awards such as Merchant Power Deal of the Year from Project Finance Magazine and Project Finance International, IJ Global Merchant Power Deal of the Year (2014 - Stonewall, 2015 - Hummel Station), Project Finance and Risk's Conventional Project Finance Deal of the Year (2015 - Hummel Station), Green Deal of the Year from Dallas Business Journal (2013).
