About Blake Mills

After graduating with First-Class Honours in Magazine Journalism from the University of Derby in 2022, I decided to continue my studies at the university and am currently working towards my master's degree in journalism. Alongside my studies I have secured work placements at Reach PLC titles Derbyshire Live and Wiltshire Live, and am currently the News Editor for the student newspaper; the Phantom. During my undergraduate degree, I developed and refined all manner of skills expected of the modern multi-media journalist. With experience in news and feature writing, sourcing stories and interviewees, collating material for and producing multi-media packages, varied knowledge on multiple Adobe applications, presenting and reporting both audio and visual stories and much more, I can confidentially create journalist content whatever the platform or medium. My master's has allowed me to continue to refine these skills while also developing a greater understanding of the many theories and models behind journalism, why we do things as journalists and what contributes to the success of stories.
