About Blake Polverino

I have worked as a Professional Lifeguard in the Port Macquarie Hastings region for over a decade. Throughout this time I have moved from a Rookie Lifeguard into a Lifeguard supervisor. Lifeguards have a unique job where they are required to respond to emergencies in dynamic environments, educate the community and make safety assessments on the fly. During my time as a lifeguard, I have completed many training courses aimed at increasing the capacity of the team. These courses include emergency management training, flood rescue training and advanced first aid. I graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Development Studies, Majoring in Urban and Regional Development. Postgraduate qualifications include a graduate certificate in Disaster Risk Reduction. This includes certification in United Nations-developed courses and alignment to globally endorsed methods of reducing disaster risks.
