About Blake Roark

I graduated with a bachelor's in Media Arts (RTVF) from the University of North Texas in spring 2017. I double minored in English and Journalism. While studying in college I was an Assistant Manager at Cinemark and for one fall semester took an internship under the Disney College Program in Anaheim. Upon graduating with a Bachelor in the arts for RTVF, I took an administrative position within the Executive Dean's office of my alma mater; where I worked up until summer of 2022. At UNT, I started out as the front desk associate handling many of the front-line calls and emails. Within a couple years, I applied for an opening as the assistant to the Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts within the university. Upon receiving this promotion, I then handled the more significant proceedings for our staff and faculty across the entire college in addition to managing the Associate Dean's oft-busy calendar. I had barely had a few month's training when Covid-19 came to a head, causing me to have to adapt to my duties in new ways that none of us could have foreseen. Nevertheless, we kept our college functioning (remote and in-person) and continue to do so in an ever changing world. It was a demanding job, but rewarding. My supervisor and cohorts supported my growth at every turn. After moving from Dallas to the Midwest, I navigated a career transition to focus on my field of study. I am currently working as a Continuity and Traffic Coordinator for WTTW | WFMT, Chicago's PBS and classical music station. I assist our sales and development team in placing spots on our broadcast schedule, reconciling past logs, monthly invoicing, data management for our clients, and working on copy. I'm privileged to be doing what I love for an esteemed studio that plays a role in providing public broadcasting to the greater Chicagoland area. I have always been of mind that hard work and determination will take you far, which I hold true to this day. It got me where I am today, loving where I work and what I do!
