I am currently pursuing an MBA at Duke University, and for me, the next two years represent more than just earning a degree; they are a crucial period to reset and prepare for a future defined by excellence and impactful leadership. My goal is to deepen my understanding of business, cultivate my ability to lead with empathy, and, most importantly, amplify my voice. I specifically aim to shape the global finance landscape and influence trends in capital markets. My motivation extends beyond mere wealth accumulation; I am committed to using capital to drive societal improvements, addressing critical issues like income inequality, environmental sustainability, and access to electricity. Before embarking on this MBA journey, I was fortunate to be one of the few Africans to serve as an advisor and investor, seeking seed or growth capital on multiple occasions. My time in Africa was a rich blend of learning through failure and achievement. Notably, I played a pivotal role in helping a leading Nigerian tech company secure $50 million in growth capital from top international investors and facilitated a $2 billion syndicated debt deal for a midstream oil and gas enterprise. I would be excited to share more about these accomplishments in a dynamic conversation! When I’m not focused on becoming an influential leader, I’m immersed in Afrobeats, exploring new cities, or enjoying a swim.
