At The Barrows Barometer for Special Education, our mission is to improve outcomes for students and families with disabilities. We focus on positively impacting the special education community in the following three ways: 1 Professional learning for special educators- we empower special education administrators, school leaders, and educators with high-impact professional learning experiences that drive meaningful change and result in graduate-level credit. We also offer training on site to take school and district teams through a self-assessment to gauge the climate, structure and performance of their special education programs. 2 The Golden Ticket to Improve Special Education Podcast- In season one we heard from the authors of our two training resource books; The Practical Guide to High Leverage Practices and A Principal's Guide to Special Education 4th Edition. We are also interviewing a wide variety of special education experts with a current focus on Artificial Intelligence for both staff and students. 3 Charitable Community Events- We focus on building strategic community partnerships in multiple regions of the United States and Canada to provide free regional training for parents of children with IDD. The events culminate with a regional special recognition ceremony to honor people who have made profound impacts for the regional IDD community. Want to learn more?
