About Bob Chapman

Robert Chapman serves as Senior Director of Design & Consulting of Metropolis, with primary focus on being a resource to our client’s for their parking needs in development and on-going improvement of their parking assets. In this role, Robert oversees all information delivered to Metropolis clients on a wide range of parking industry specific requirements necessary to plan their parking operations. His areas of expertise include financial feasibility, master planning, functional and facility design, technology, way-finding and operational improvement of parking facilities. Robert’s experience from both design and real world operations allows him to draw from “lessons learned” in all aspects of parking development and to pass this knowledge on to our clients. Prior to joining Metropolis, Robert served as a Principal for several large engineering firms that specialize in parking development. During this time, Robert has become widely acknowledged in the real estate industry as one of the world's leading parking experts. He has consulted on multiple international projects. He is a co-author of several chapters of the Dimensions in Parking, a combined publication of the Urban Land Institute and the National Parking Association. Elected to the Parking Consultants Council (PCC) of the National Parking Association in 2007, Robert has been involved in the development of multiple PCC publications. During his tenure at Metropolis, Robert has been involved in the expansion of Metropolis operating cities, including Houston, Seattle and Austin. This role also included overseeing day-today operations for large parking portfolios with emphasis in office and healthcare markets. Throughout his 30+ year parking career, Robert has had impact in all phases of parking development from initial concept plans to improvements of an existing operation. His recommendations have led to more efficient operations, better customer experience and service and most importantly the best possible return to our clients.
