About Bob Dameron

Mr. Dameron served as Moffatt & Nichol's firmwide Director of Structures from 2010 to 2021, and has recently retired. He is still available for select projects. Prior to Moffatt & Nichol, he served in a similar role and in Office and Regional management roles for David Evans & Associates (DEA) since 2002. Prior to DEA, Mr. Dameron worked for three other firms: in the 1980s, Pacifica Technology and Pacific Gas & Electric (structures design division), and from 1986 to 2002 – ANATECH Corporation. At ANATECH, Dameron became a partner and Director in 1990, CFO and VP in 1992, and he led ANATECH’s bridge/structural engineering and analysis group from 1992-2002. During the decades since the Loma Prieta Earthquake of 1989, Dameron led dozens of major bridge evaluation and retrofit projects, including portions of the seismic retrofit design and analysis of most of California’s long-span toll bridges. In addition to his financial, operations and complex project management experience, Mr. Dameron’s 40+ years in consulting span the fields of complex structure analysis and structure design. He is a widely recognized expert in finite element analysis, yet also has extensive practical design experience. He has performed finite element modeling and analysis especially for bridges, buildings, and nuclear power plant structures subjected to earthquake and beyond-design basis loadings. Dameron has pioneered methods of finite element modeling for reinforced concrete and steel structure components, particularly emphasizing prediction of failure modes and ductility capacities. He has authored over 100 reports and publications on these methods. His technical project work falls into the specialty areas described below.
