About Bob Hogan

I started my career in 1979 working for Celanese as a process engineer and moved into computer systems as a direct result of pushing process information and automation to the production floor. In 1984, I went to worked for CHAMPS Software, a software house for facility management software where I was product technical director as well as consulting on enhancing facility management in a variety of industries. In 1988, I started in the IS area of Russell Corporation as Manager of manufacturing systems and was responsible for numerous large scale IS and automation projects and moved to the Director of IS for Russell Athletic. After more than 15 years in senior IT management, I moved back into direct manufacturing in 2004 in a new startup business in Russell's Collegate licensed apparel decoration area. As the Director on Operations, I was responsible for all decoration operations. In 2007, I moved from operations to the position of Director of Business Strategy for the Licensed Apparel area. This position involved more responsibilities in the area of offshore supply chain planning in Central America and the strategic location of manufacturing centers In 2008 I certified as a six sigma blackbelt as part of my personal continuous improvement program. In Dec 2008, I retired from Russell Athletic and in Jan 2009 joined the faculty at the University of Alabama as a clinical instructor in the MIS program teaching Data Communications and participating as one of the faculty sponsors for the MIS department's unique Capstone progam. This is a total immersion program for seniors led by MS/MBA MIS candidates where they spend their senior year learning full life cycle development methods by working on real projects for our affiliated business partners.
