About Bob Labelle

I am a career accounting and finance professional with a strong focus on product cost, efficiency and profitability. I have worked primarily for manufacturing companies in the semiconductor, electronics contract manufacturing, printing, plastic extrusion and computing industries. Early in my career I focused on cost accounting and then moved on to serve as plant or corporate controller for over 15 years and have managed accounting, information technology and human resources organizations ranging up to 25 people in total. I am an atypical finance professional in that I spend as much time as possible interacting with non-finance organizations. I have been a leader and strong proponent for organization wide quality programs such as TQM, ISO, Kaizen, etc. These programs can be instrumental in improving efficiencies, increasing yields, reducing defects and increasing profits. They also offer diverse departments the opportunity to interact adding cohesion and increasing communication effectiveness throughout an organization. I believe that developing leaders within an organization is a key ingredient of success. I have routinely participated in leadership development programs and have developed and sponsored two such programs focused on supervisors and first line managers. With assistance from educational experts I developed curriculum covering effective communication, leadership fundamentals, time management, employee communication and evaluation techniques, utilizing diversity effectively, goal setting and dealing with difficult people. I have witnessed the amazing and positive effects such programs can have on an organization. I have also developed the ability to teach financial concepts to non-financial personnel typically found in a manufacturing environment. This allows for financially oriented goals to be fully understood across the entire organization and assists non-financial organizations to take greater accountability for the bottom line.
