About Bob Roozenbeek

As Professor and Head of the Department of Neurology at Erasmus MC, I am responsible for patient care, education, and research in neurology. I believe in human-centered leadership built on connection, trust, and collaboration. By fostering innovation and teamwork, I aim to create an environment where professionals can thrive, contribute their talents, and work together to deliver and improve care for people with neurological diseases while keeping neurological care accessible. Clinically and scientifically, my focus is on stroke and neurovascular diseases. My mission is to improve treatment and outcomes for people with stroke. I apply quantitative research methods to evaluate and personalize treatments, and to support better decision-making for individual patients. I also enjoy teaching (stroke) neurology, clinical epidemiology, and healthcare organization to students, PhD candidates, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. I have served as Principal Investigator or Steering Committee member in more than 10 clinical stroke studies, including PRESTO, PRESTO-2, MR CLEAN-MED, DUMAS, and PERFEQTOS. Together with national and international collaborators, I develop healthcare innovations that improve the quality and organization of stroke care in a person-centered way.
