After 3 years of commissioned Navy service, I worked 30 years for the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board, an independent agency in the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. Beginning as a Field Representative, I rose through the organization to the top of the career federal service. For the last 8 years, I served in the Senior Executive Service as Director of Programs, with collateral duties as Executive Committee Member and Investment Committee Member. Since retirement in 2003, I have devoted my time and energies in non-profit organizations, primarily supporting our Armed Forces. I do what I do, because I live the way I live. If the men and women who defend our country and our way of life are willing to put their lives on the line, then by George, I intend to thank them for making it possible for me to continue to live a good life in the best country that ever was.
