I look forward to becoming an educator in New Orleans, La. school system, while I continue my studies at Ashford pursuing my Master’s degree in Psychology. I am very familiar with modifying/differentiating work, BIP’s/IEP’s, co-teaching models and how to have successful classroom management. Currently, I work as a paraprofessional and head athletics coach at Crocker College Prep here in New Orleans, which is located in the uptown area of the city. I have prided myself on showing joy, respect, perseverance and carrying towards the students and athletes I work with on a daily basis. I’ve had the chance to work with the high school students at our sister school, Cohen College Prep and have successfully helped 7 students get academic and athletic scholarships for college. My professionalism has led to me receiving promotions on the job and has helped me become a better educator for the students I engage with daily. After getting my first degree from Delgado Community College in, “Industrial Drafting & Engineering”, which is under the Applied Computer Science program; I was hired to work as the CAD operator for Xavier University in their facility planning department. I worked there for almost 4 years before going into the family’s construction business. There I learned that there was still a void I felt towards the career I was currently in. From there I pursued the field of education by getting hired with New Orleans College Prep, which led me to go back to school to obtain a degree in education. This has been a passion I have carried for helping the youth, which has led to many fruitful opportunities since working for this network. This will be my 7th year working as a paraprofessional with the network and my goal is to become a school psychologist after being a lead teacher. I am seeking a career in teaching working with group K-12, which I have 7 years of experience doing as of present.
