About Bookie Adekanye

I have over 15 years of combined experience working in start-up environments, both profit and non-profit sectors. My experience cuts across Entrepreneurship, Business Development, Community Engagement, Government Liasion, Process Design, Framework Development, Marketing Communications, and Immigration Services. In the course of supporting local businesses, I created an Information blog for SMEs to help them access the resource and opportunities to scale their businesses. I also enjoy facilitating collaborations between stakeholders within the business ecosystem. Since arriving in Canada, I have worked extensively with women, immigrants, and BlPOC groups. Having experienced first-hand the stifling systemic barriers these groups face, I use storytelling to promote social justice and equity. I am adept at highlighting the human angle as a tool for promoting social change. I am a writer, author and cultural enthusiasts. One of my books got shortlisted in three categories and won the 2023 Writer of Colour Award by The Word Guild Canada. I am seeking opportunities to network, collaborate and volunteer, especially on projects that support vulnerable and underserved populations.
