Have you ever stumbled on Pratchett’s amazing Discworld? A flat world where everything's possible because of the raw magic everywhere? But it is only magic if you look at it from far away with one eye closed and another half open. It’s a world where magic is science and science is magic and everything has consequences. Just like every other clinical trial. It may look impossible and I would absolutely love it if I could tell you that I could make every problem disappear with a wave of a hand, but a clinical trial is not magic and we live in a nice round world, so I took the science way. And though it may look magical to some, having solution to quite a few problems and finding ways through a complicated net of rules is not a sorceress job, just an experienced RM. To be honest, I do not have solution for absolutely every problem. For example I still haven’t found how to pop all the pop corns in a bag without burning them. However, apart from such existential problems, I am really good in solving ones related to clinical studies. You need a non-marketed rescue medication? Starting up a complicated paediatric study and want to be sure everything is ready? Safety reporting concerns? Provide me with time, big desk and enough coffee and I can lead you through the whole process. Joke aside, I’ve spent 5 years working in the Bulgarian Drug Agency – the main regulatory authority in Bulgaria. During this time I had the opportunity to get to know in details the regulatory framework in the country and the common rules for the EU and learned something very important– how to read new regulations, how to link different documents and generally how to be up-to-date. They also say that life is like a bicycle – If you stop you fall. So after working for the State, I moved on the other side (they had cookies).
