Brad Lee has always had a financial plan — even before he realized he was a financial planner. As a kid in Greater Vancouver, shopping at Army & Navy, Brad really wanted the latest Adidas sneakers — the ones with the iconic three stripes. When he asked his mom for a pair, she didn’t flinch, said “we can’t afford those. You’d better start saving.” There was only one thing to do: he got a paper route. Rain or shine, Brad delivered newspapers — and made deals with customers to cut their grass and watch their pets — until he’d earned enough to buy the shoes himself. It was his first real lesson in goal-setting, and living within a budget — not just wanting something, but making a plan and working for it. That mindset never left him. Brad didn’t set out to become a financial planner, first he achieved a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics and became a business owner. Financial planning gradually grew through interaction with community. Years of volunteering, racing, and directing in Penticton’s triathlon scene helped him build deep local roots. When a fellow triathlete suggested he consider financial planning, Brad realized he’d already been doing it — informally helping friends understand RRSPs and make smart money decisions, long before he knew it could be a career. Today, having earned the CFP designation, Brad works with Cardiff Lee & Associates to help clients across the Okanagan — especially business owners, professionals, and farmers — feel confident about the future they’ve worked so hard to build. Many arrive with hesitation: “Can I afford to slow down?” “What if I run out?” “Is it too soon to help my kids?” Brad’s gift is helping them shift that mindset — to see that with the right plan, they don’t have to choose between feeling secure and living fully.
