In a short 3 years and 6 months after the pandemic left me jobless, penny less, and basically homeless, I was able to establish myself in the construction industry and turn my life around for my daughter and I. The pandemic shut down the small tourist resort town in Mexico I was living in and working as a boat captain for a charter company catering to the 10s of thousands of tourist we would get every year over night and left my daughter and I in a difficult position. We made the decision to move back to the USA after 23 years for me and my daughter’s entire 15 years of life living in Mexico and start over. It was tough for both of us, my daughter starting her Sophomore year in high school not able to read or write English and for me re entering the construction industry after a 23 year absence. I had to work hard and move up quick just to be able to survive in these new times of hyperinflation. I started out making $17/hour working for an HVAC company doing rough installations for new apartment builds and quickly got promoted to site foreman eventually running 3 jobs at the same time. 2 of those jobs were for McShane Construction and I caught the eye of 2 McShane Superintendents who convinced me to send in my resume to McShane. I have been with McShane now for 2 years and 2 months and look forward to continuing to advance in this industry.
