About Brad Trivers

In April 2023 Brad was re-elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Prince Edward Island District 18 Rustico-Emerald for a third term. In May 2019 he was appointed to Executive Council as Minister of Environment, Water & Climate Change, and Minister of Education & Lifelong Learning; in the government of Premier Dennis King. In February 2021 he was appointed Minister of Social Development & Housing. From May 2015 until April 2019 he sat in the Official Opposition, and was the Opposition Whip, and official opposition critic for Finance, Communities, Land and Environment, and Acadian & Francophone Affairs. In 2017 Brad also ran for the position of Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Prince Edward Island on a "Back to Basics" platform focused on the core mission and values of the PEI PC Party - socially progressive and fiscally responsible. He garnered 40% of the vote, but finished in second place. Brad Trivers is also an information systems veteran with over 25 years in systems support, analysis and application development. While attending the University of Waterloo he started out in technical support for computer algebra systems at MapleSoft (http://maplesoft.com/). After graduation Brad spent 9 years in a business systems analyst and management role at Newbridge Networks (now Nokia https://networks.nokia.com/) working with systems to support the Research & Development teams in project management, change request and issue management (BMC Remedy ARS implementation), in-bound supply chain (SAP and i2 Technologies) and other smaller applications. Since 2004 Brad has been an independent consultant with his company Sunrise Solutions Inc (http://sunriseweb.ca). Along with developing custom web solutions, Brad spent almost 6 years as a Senior Systems Analyst contracting with a federal government agency and working primarily with mainframe-based applications. Since 2010 Brad has focused on web development using WordPress-based solutions to build his clients' web presence and enable their business processes.
