About Brad Wilson

43 years of engineering chemical processes, process controls, and computer networks has been, and continues to be, a tremendous amount of fun. But the real joy has been the people I have met along the way - wonderful souls who have fed my passion for music and languages. Piano was and is my primary means of expression, having played it almost as long as I've walked this earth. However, piano is not the most portable of instruments, and so school bands taught me reed instruments (clarinet, sax, flute) and guitar. I love all forms of musical expression, but am really in my element with ragtime, musical theatre, and Irish traditional music. We'll see how tolerant my neighbours may be of me practicing bagpipes in the backyard (I suspect my dog will not approve). Being raised in Canada, I was keenly aware of the presence of multiple ways of communicating, and, of course, learned French from the earliest grade in school.(Alas, it has been a challenge to maintain.) I learned Irish (which I have taught privately and in community schools for over 30 years) as a way to explore my heritage. I am learning Choctaw as a way to honour their selfless gift to the Irish people during very troubling times. My love of science fiction, and Star Trek in particular, has led me to achieve a Level 3 certification in Klingon. And my travels around the world have sparked an interest in Arabic, Swahili, Japanese, Papiamento, and Spanish.
