As a Verizon Field Engineer, I made sure our facilities and equipment remained in top shape by maintaining 35-40 of 210 locations and/or towers in my assigned area of Southern Illinois. I did regular maintenance and preventive maintenance on cell site hardware, kept inventories, completed inventory audits, battery and power plant PM’s, power audits on both AC and DC power systems, trouble ticketing, completed work orders and created reports. I was responsible for cleaning and maintained fiber optics, using JDSU OTDR test equipment to find cuts, failures or faults in fiber optic cable. I also worked with vendors to have the fiber repaired, if needed. I analyzed network coverage to find gaps, made recommendations to improve coverage, and helped to implement those recommendations. I Integrated network hardware and Ethernet back haul interconnect facilities. I updated daily logs with site-specific information and generated reports. I performed weekly on call rotation with 5 other Field Engineers. While on call, I was responsible for 210 towers in 22 counties. During my 23 years with Verizon Wireless, I completed over hours of training. Some of this training was online, some was suit cased in, and some of it involved traveling out of the state to vendor facilities and test labs. Also during my 23 years with Verizon Wireless, I was able to demonstrate my ability to complete tasks accurately despite interruptions and competing demands. I am self-motivated and dependable, while simultaneously achieving high performance with minimal supervision. I am an Engineering Technician with an impressive blend of technical expertise and people skills, and proficient in managing projects and resolving issues in software and hardware troubleshooting.
