About Brady Irwin

Social Worker with 14+ years of experience in the human services industry, specifically in disability, mental health and family violence. I also currently possess an ABN and provide fee-for-service work regarding academic and vocational coaching, skills and capacity-building as needed. As well, I am in the process of signup to Mable as a sole trader for the NDIS. My most recent employment was with headspace via the Federal Government COVID-19 Outreach/Engagement role. My particular job was dual role - Lead Intake and Wellbeing Practitioner/Community Mental Health Practitioner. For the former, this involved intake and psychosocial assessment, clinical review, as well as referrals, stakeholder liaison and advocacy as needed. As a CMHP, I was also tasked with providing brief intervention counselling work with young people. The additional outreach component of my role meant there was an assertive advocacy component for young people and families impacted by COVID-19. I was previously employed with Launch Housing, as a Case Manager in the Tenancy Plus Program, supporting individuals whose public and community housing may be at risk through assertive advocacy, outreach and support. Prior to this, I have been involved in roles ranging from Men's Behaviour Change Program facilitation for male family violence perpetrators, mental health/disability support work and case management, community development and youth mental health placement, etc. I've also spent time doing everything from retail, hospitality and agency work to labouring. Not afraid to try new things! It is my career intention to have a mix of organisational and private-practice work, as I enjoy both environments and having diverse work arrangements. Specifically, I intend on gaining AMHSW accreditation so as to obtain Medicare eligibility for private practice. Long-term, the intention is to augment this with consulting and training work. I am a passionate social justice advocate and seek only to instil my practice and work in organisations and opportunities which aim for tangible outcomes for the dispossessed and vulnerable in Australian society. I also professionally implement my peer/lived experience alongside evidence-based practice, a constant eye for new ideas and innovations, and a strongly person-centered practice framework. I am equally comfortable with micro and macro scale positions and perspectives and highly enjoy teams in positive workplaces.
