About Bram Steeman

My academic journey commenced with the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing at the age of 21. Driven by a profound thirst for knowledge, I embarked on a continuous path of learning while simultaneously working as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit. As a dedicated professional, I sought to augment my practical experience with theoretical expertise, leading me to obtain a second Bachelor's degree in Emergency and Intensive Care Nursing. Furthermore, I expanded my academic pursuits by completing Continuing Education Programs in Smoking Cessation, Forensic Expertise, and ultimately achieving a Master's degree in Sexology. Since 2020, I have been serving as a part-time lecturer at Odisee University College, where I've taught within the Bachelor of Nursing and guide students in their clinical placements and thesis projects. Sharing insights from clinical practice and academic research with aspiring nurses has deepened my understanding of pedagogy and reinforced my commitment to lifelong learning. Since 2019, I had been actively practicing as a smoking cessation specialist. I expanded my scope of practice in June 2023 by offering consultations as a Sexologist. Currently, I'm working as a PhD Candidate at the University of Ghent, where I am researching sexual development during adolescence, with a specific focus on different sexual trajectories and the underlying role of temperament, measured by the Fisher Temperament Inventory by anthropologist Helen Fisher.
