About Brandon Bates

Brandon has been employed in the federal government, at Transport Canada since May 2018. He began as an FSWEP student working in strategic investments in the Policy Group. His primary role was to research large-scale global procurement projects. He then transitioned into corporate finance as a Financial Analyst where he has spent his last four years. He has had a few positions within finance, but his primary roles have been developing and implementing Power BI data analytics tools, long-term financial planning, capital asset investment planning, and most recently he has transitioned to a new role, working with a portfolio of clients on Treasury Board Submissions. He is a graduate of Carleton University where he attended from 2014 to 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts (2018), a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma of Accounting (2020) and recently graduating from the Master of Accounting Program (2022). Brandon is an aspiring CPA who wrote and passed the Common Final Examination (CFE) in September 2022, with a specialization in Taxation. He is in the final stages of completing his requisite 30 months of professional work experience and is seeking to attain a CPA designation in the first quarter of 2023.
