Senior Corrections Officer January 2018 – Feb 2022 Responsible for ensuring the security, care, and rehabilitation of offenders, and guiding and supervising the Corrections Officers on shifts. • Ensuring a safe, secure, and humane environment for offenders, actively encouraging and assisting them to lead an offence-free lifestyle • Encouraging and facilitating participation in rehabilitation and re-integrative programs • Building and maintaining meaningful relationships to support offender re-integration • Setting clear expectations and consequences for behaviour, and dealing with inappropriate behaviour effectively • Supervising the daily routines in the unit, and coordinating offender activity • Identifying unsafe situations and taking immediate action to maintain safety and security standards • Recognising warning signs and changes in offender behaviour, and acting quickly to resolve or prevent incidents • Accurately recording all security related incidents • Ensuring positive engagement with routines, and facilitating and monitoring dispute resolution • Support the wellbeing of offenders, and providing for their individual needs including age, disability, health, cultural, and developmental needs • Support and contribute to the health and safety, hazard management, and emergency response procedures • Support opportunities to empower offenders, helping them to develop and sustain positive relationships with their families and communities • Working with Case Managers, sharing progress information, and contributing to offender plan meetings • Complete documentation including assessments, decisions, actions, and rationales • Providing support to the Corrections Officers team, evaluate their learning, and providing in-the-moment coaching • Reporting to the Principal Corrections Officer on individual practice development • Provide first aid and basic life support when required
