About Brandon McCarter

Our Promised Land is following God down his path to wherever He wants us to be. Five years ago, I moved across the United States moving from Three Rivers, California back home to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The Lord was bringing me back home to take care of my 90-year-old Mom. He found me a house to live in, provided an awesome job, introduced me to a new church, new people in Rotary, United Way, the Gideons and a variety of other people. He also found my wife the job that she wanted. The Lord blessed us beyond belief. We could never have even dreamt of all the friends and things He provided for us. The most important thing was that He had brought me home to take care of my Mom. He gave us two good years of running around and doing things together. The last year was spent mostly by her bedside at her condo or my house caring for her. In June of 2020 Mom’s time here ended and she went to be with the Lord. I was sad to see her leave, but I was happy she was with the Lord, and her Mom and Dad which she had spoken frequently about before she passed. The night we got home from her funeral, I looked at Evelyn and said, “you know, now we are going to have to go take care of your Mom”. Just like our move from California to Tennessee, we weren’t sure how we were going to accomplish this task, but we knew that if that was what the Lord wanted that He would show us the way. In January 2021 we moved to the mountains of West Virginia near the New River Gorge National Park. The Lord has provided us with a home next to Evelyn’s 92-year-old Mom, a new church, a new Gideon Camp, and continues to introduce us to new people. He found me a job serving people and has given me the experience to help them. As I have watched the sunrise and set with Moses (our dog) several times over the last year, I have thought, we are in the Promised Land. This is where God wants us. If we love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind, He will take us or keep us in our Promised Land. All we have to do is follow His path.
