About Brandon Mitchell

Brandon is a lighting designer whose work spans across the disciplines of Theatre, Dance, Opera, and Television. He has worked as a freelance designer on a multitude of Theatre and Opera projects in both Off-Broadway and regional theaters throughout the United States. He focuses on working collaboratively with others to tell stories in a simple, yet imaginative manner through the use of light. Brandon also has considerable experience in the realm of broadcast television design, having worked for the Lighting Design Group in New York City. While there, he worked his way up from staff Assistant Lighting Designer to Lighting Director at Bloomberg Television. He had the privilege to work on numerous national and international projects while on staff, including the 2012 U.S. national election coverage, new studio installations for China Central Television, and the 2014 Winter Olympics broadcast coverage. Brandon earned his Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama in 2010. Prior to this, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Theatre from West Texas A&M University where he was honored to be part of the McNair Scholars program.
