About Brandon Mitchell

Brandon Mitchell serves as Counsel in Troutman Pepper Locke's Transactional and Regulatory Insurance Practice Group. Brandon maintains a general corporate practice that focuses on insurance and reinsurance transactional and regulatory matters. He represents domestic and international insurance, reinsurance, and insurtech companies, insurance producers and brokers, reinsurance intermediaries, third-party administrators, captives, and other related entities in connection with their needs, including formation, licensing, regulatory compliance, advertising, surplus lines, and filing matters. Brandon also works with insurance and non-insurance entities on various transactional matters, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate filings, annual reports, and affiliate transactions. Brandon previously served as Corporate Secretary and Associate General Counsel at Aspida, a family of insurance and reinsurance companies in the U.S, Bermuda, and the Cayman Islands specializing in annuity and life insurance products. At Aspida, he oversaw the governance function and legal work related to vendor management, distribution, privacy, and human resources. Brandon also managed several reinsurance transactions. Additionally, he founded and chaired Aspida’s Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee. Before joining Aspida, Brandon was a member of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company’s legal team, specializing in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and capital markets transactions. He was also a member of Nationwide’s Legal Diversity & Inclusion Council, where he served as Treasurer and Relationship Manager to the National Bar Association. Brandon is an active leader in the community. He currently serves on the Ethics Board for the City of Mableton, Georgia. He previously served on the Board of Trustees for the Bexley Public Library and was a member of the Steering Committee for the United Way of Central Ohio Key Club. Brandon is a former member of The Ohio State University Board of Trustees, where he served as the Graduate/Professional Student Member. He was also chosen as a Fellow for the United Way African American Leadership Academy and a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Pathfinder. Brandon is a “Double-Buckeye”, receiving his Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts from The Ohio State University. He was a member of the OSU Football Team from 2002-06. Brandon lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife (Misty), son (Maverick), and their Goldendoodle (River). In his spare time, he enjoys shopping, hanging with friends, and enjoying an active lifestyle.
