About Brandon Rumsey
I am a queer, nonbinary composer and artist from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Since 2008, I have composed incidental music for theatre and acoustic concert music that has been performed by musicians around the world. I create art to heal, play, and share, promoting personal growth and community-building. As a teacher, I have been recognized for my student-centric approach, robust pedagogy, commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and innovative curriculum design. I teach to foster communal support and creativity and to inspire and empower others to embrace courageous self-expression. I am actively looking to work with other queer, disabled, or trans artists like me who are interested in destigmatizing queer sexuality, advocating for those who may have felt unheard and excluded, and seeking a more equitable and pleasurable world.
