Background
About Brandon Teller
I began my educational journey in 2017, aiming for a more fulfilling career. Initially, I pursued a business degree at community college. However, my passion wasn't ignited until the summer of 2018, when I took business calculus and realized I needed a math-based career. From there, I delved into trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus. Yet, I soon discovered that professional opportunities in mathematics were limited unless one pursued doctorate-level research, teaching, or a niche position. Thus, I turned to electrical engineering, seeking a balance of math and professional skills for a satisfying career. However, COVID-19 disrupted my plans in spring 2020, prompting another shift. I sought a major that offered both satisfaction and the flexibility to study virtually, leading me to computer science. In June 2021, I graduated from College of the Canyons with an AS in computer science, mathematics, and liberal arts with a science focus. That fall, I continued my journey at California State University Northridge (CSUN), pursuing a BS degree. My time at CSUN was intense and fulfilling, as I juggled two jobs and spent many late nights studying, coding, and growing as an individual. Determined to secure a position before graduation, I landed a junior backend software developer role two months before earning my degree. This allowed me to transition from part-time work to a position where I could grow professionally. In May 2023, I graduated from CSUN with a BS in computer science and continued working as a junior software developer for six months. Then, with great honor, I joined the US Department of Defense as a computer scientist and general engineer, specifically as a radar test engineer. I hold a clearance and have various responsibilities and achievements, all listed on my resume. I've been in this position since November 2023. I have also embarked on a master's degree in computer science, focusing on implementing machine learning in data analysis tools, with an expected graduation in December 2026. Thank you for reading about my journey and gaining insight into my educational and professional development, as well as the mindset that guided me throughout.
