Background
About Brandon York
I was born and raised in Moss Landing, CA, a tiny harbor village (human population: 237; seagull population: roughly 5,142 as of the last census), where commercial fishing prevails as the dominant industry. But a life chasing halibut never quite, uh.hooked me. Education caught my interest and spurred my relocation to the San Francisco Bay Area. The urban verve and rich cultural diversity in this bustling concrete Oz thoroughly enthralled me. If Dorothy Gale had a flip-flop-wearing coastal cousin, they surely would have agreed: I was not in Moss Landing anymore. Upon graduating from UC Berkeley, I settled in the Bay Area long-term. This opened invaluable career opportunities, in various industries, from professional audio to education to scholarly publishing. I’ve cultivated robust, transferable experience in: • Operations • Project management • People management • Instructional design • Content development • Writing and editing • Customer service • Administration • Event planning • Logistics I’ve collaborated with colleagues, clients, and students around the globe, traveling abroad to facilitate many training and promotional events. I’ve worked cross-functionally to implement data-driven process improvements and increase operational efficiency. I’ve helped academics and corporate professionals compose articles, marketing copy, and presentation assets. Through it all, I’ve maintained a steadfast connection to my small-town roots, an engaged receptiveness to new concepts and challenges, adaptability amid dynamic change, and a lighthearted demeanor, even when the road ahead can’t possibly get any rockier. Can it! Coupled with my comprehensive skill set, these attributes make me a diligent, conscientious contributor in any organization. To further enrich my personal and professional commitment to education, I’m also pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Instructional Design and Technology at San Francisco State University. But, as the proverb states, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. When not on the clock, I can be found riding a bike, hiking a coastal trail, quietly reading a book, or rock-/raucously pummeling a drum kit. And in case you’re wondering, on account of the Oz reference, I don’t have a small terrier named Toto—nor a mid-sized one, for that matter. I do enjoy guardianship over a pair of delightful cory catfish, though. They’re bundles of personality and, most importantly, permitted in my lease agreement. Thanks for stopping by.
