About Brandy Chorba

What do you want to be when you grow up?” That simple question caused me an abundance of frustration as a young woman. How should I know what I want to be before I know who I am? My only answer was, “I just want to be powerful enough to empower everyone around me to succeed, and I want to effect positive changes to our world.” I started off as a U.S Navy Corpsman. I learned the word “resilience” and I came face to face with some of the world’s finest leaders. I learned when to speak up, and (more importantly) when to bite my tongue. I went on to graduate college after my service, and I graduated nursing school with honors. I learned foundational nursing skills at the hospital and in post acute care. Now I’m a nursing supervisor for hospice. I am capitalizing on my personal strengths and experiences to develop the future of nursing. I’m analyzing outcomes, participating in quality improvement strategies, mentoring and coaching, working to improve job satisfaction, and advocating for a safer patient experience. I may not have been able to verbalize my ultimate goal, but through some good luck and determination I was able to find what calls to my soul. Let’s network and grow a community of passionate, empowered, and open-minded healthcare professionals. I can’t change the world by myself, but we can do it together!
