About Brandy Fransen

It is said that a person changes careers seven times in their lifetime. I was born and raised in a banana republic, Honduras; a little country in Central America the size of the state of Tennessee. I was educated at a bilingual American-International style high school in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. When it came to choosing a university and major, Graphic Design was still a relatively new major that wasn't available at home so I chose to enroll at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, Ga. I was a designer for four years, after graduating, at a design/print shop in Savannah. Being a people person, I found it difficult to sit behind a computer all day. I never imagined I would be anything else other than a designer but after a few life changes, I stumbled across a fulfilling job in Higher Education that combined my passions. Working as a representative for SCAD, I managed to combine my love for Art and Design with my experience/expertise in Latin America and the Caribbean culture. It was a surreal experience returning to my high school in Honduras to give a presentation to students about careers in the Arts. Amazing how life comes full circle sometimes. I then made the switch to a prestigious liberal arts college in beautiful Winter Park, FL. Rollins College is a little hidden gem about ten minutes from downtown Orlando. It's the kind of place that feels like family from the moment you arrive As an advocate for students overseas I am able to change people's lives every day; whether it be a scholarship they don't think they can attain or just the encouragement that dream jobs are possible with the right opportunities.my job is rewarding. Encouraging others motivates me but overall I think it's the idea that I am helping, albeit in a very small way, to bring people closer to their purpose.
