About Brandy Margeson

I posess a vast history of teaching and working closely with administrative teams. I have had excellent opportunities, over 20 years, teaching children, in low income schools, ranging from kindergarten to twelfth grade. With these opportunities, I have gained vast knowledge of the North Carolina Course of Study. While teaching, I attended many professional developments which provided knowledge of working with low income students, academic and cultural best practices, analyzing data and adding rigor to content lessons. I have presented at the NC Reading Conference on the importance of implementing research based non fiction and fiction reading comprehension strategies. My first years of teaching included many long days researching, planning and revising my craft. I have always let my students know that I possess a deep confidence in them and know they can achieve to their highest potential. This is best exemplified in my ability to show great gains in test scores. After several years of teaching, I went to the University of North Carolina and obtained a masters in literacy. In all of my teaching I encourage students to become strategic thinkers, critical readers and writers.
