About Brandy McKenzie

I advocate for clear, vivid communication as a fundamental expression of a healthy community.I graduated in 2001 with an MFA in poetry from the University of Oregon, consistently rated one of the top ten graduate programs in writing in the country. Since then, I've taught college-level writing classes including developmental, composition, research, technical writing, and creative writing courses, as well as literature courses. Much of my heart is in academia, but much of my experience is not: I've accumulated more than twenty-five years' worth of published creative work; experience on editorial boards of three different nationally distributed literary magazines; and experience in writing copy for blogs and small business websites. Most recently, my focus has been on developing my experience in the legal field as a legal assistant/paralegal for a solo family law attorney.
