About Brea Spence

Hi, I'm Brea Spence! I'm an alumni of UC San Diego having graduated in June 2024 from Revelle College with my Bachelor's of Science in Human Biology. I'm experienced in various medical clinics, primarily family practice, as I have worked as a medical receptionist and a medical scribe shadowing the in-house physician. I have also volunteered with the Imperial Valley non-profit organization Vo's Neighborhood Clinic, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in my hometown, the Imperial Valley. I take pride in my contribution with the University Link Medical Science Program's 2021 Cohort where I had the opportunity to present my research project "Pediatric Asthma Rates in Rural and Underserved Communities of the Imperial Valley" to a panel of doctors and UCSD officials. I have continued with this passion project while working under Sonoma Technology in Calexico, California, studying environmental data regarding air quality due to the New River. Throughout my time at UCSD I had worked part-time in Geisel Library's Audrey's Cafe while balancing my academics. I also maintained an internship at Torrey Pines Dermatology and Laser Clinic as well as assisting in research for the Azim Lab at Salk Institute of Biological Studies. Currently, I am working as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and a restorative nursing assistant (RNA) at Scripps Memorial Hospital - La Jolla's Surgical Acute unite while beginning my medical school application process!
