About Brendan Cooper

I am an MSc. graduate of the University of Calgary, with an emphasis on Physics and Astronomy. I am very detail oriented when it comes to data analysis and processing. Through both my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I developed necessary skills to work in all types of industry, such as data collection/processing/analysis, modelling, and programming in various environments such as IDL, Mathematica, and Java. I am very proficient with most of the Microsoft Office tools (notably Excel and PowerPoint), and have experience working in a UNIX environment. Previously, as Process Professional, the scope of my duties was quite broad. I was responsible for organizing/delegating training within the Evaluation department, along with being the first point of contact for any technical issues with the software/data. Finally, I was responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving processes within the department to keep the work being delivered to our multiple clients high and on-time. This can involve developing short programs to do automatic QA on our reports. In my current role as Data Scientist, I am part of a small but growing team of other Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Software Developers, etc. based out of the ROSEN Technology Canada office in Kelowna, BC. I am responsible for new algorithm development within the Creation side of the business to help develop new and better tools for utilizing, analyzing, and delivering our data to our clients. This involves collaboration with other "Artemis" team members in Lingen, Germany, which can lead to frequent collaboration and trips abroad to visit with them at the R&D headquarters in Germany. Personally, I am very outgoing and friendly, and enjoy working in a team environment. I have a lot of experience with effective communication through giving talks on my research or the many years of teaching and tutoring. I also took on the role as "Pathfinder" for several years within my company, which gives me the responsibility of maintaining and strengthening our core culture (through day-long workshops) that has made ROSEN so successful, all while we continue to grow.
