Specialties: InfiniBand, RoCE, NVMe/NVMe-oF, Network and Storage Protocols, Solaris and Linux OS Senior Software Architect/Developer with 30 years’ experience in product design and development. Background in Solaris kernel I/O, Device drivers, NVMe-oF, RDMA (InfiniBand, RoCE, OFED), SCSI, and Embedded software. Architect, implementer, Tech lead, Project lead. Written and presented many InfiniBand Tutorials. Regularly attend (and have presented) at workshops and seminars internally and industry-wide. Joined DEC after college and worked as a Software Engineer in a networking product development group that developed terminal servers and WAN routers. Joined Sun in 1993, initially worked as a senior member of a team that set-up the OS test regression group in Ireland. Later joined the X86 device driver group with responsibility for the development of HBA drivers and liaising with IHV's/ISV's as technical consultant on co-developed projects. In joined the newly formed InfiniBand team as a Software Architect, jointly defining the Solaris InfiniBand Transport Framework (IBTF) architecture and later had sole responsibility for defining the Solaris Open Fabrics User Verbs (OFUV) Architecture, a project to provide the OFA OFED APIs on Solaris. Subsequently, I defined and implemented the IB Observability architecture. Currently working on an NVM software stack for Solaris that provides a framework for NMVe and NMVe-oF. During my time in the kernel I/O framework group I've also been project lead on many development teams, as well as being responsible for code development and bug fixing as the need arises.
