About Brendan Smith

My 7 year career focused on financial reporting on both sides of auditing, has allowed me to serve in private accounting practice with strong internal control acumen and the ability to interpret and apply new accounting standards. After I graduated Liberty University with my Bachelor’s in Accounting, I was an auditor for KPMG US for over two years, earning two of the firms Encore awards for exceptional client service. I then served at Liberty University for over 4 years leading the financial reporting function, gaining more knowledge about the operations of business, and strengthening my ability to lead a diverse team of individuals. I am now serving as the Manager of Financial Reporting at UVA Health where I am exercising my experience to drive continued improvement in technical accounting documentation, internal control, and strengthening the resources that support the organization’s internal and external financial reporting. I have a passion for doing things well and doing things right while simultaneously displaying care for the people I work with as they carry out the crucial functions that support accurate and timely financial reporting.
