Accredited sustainability executive & environmental scientist with a postgraduate degree and over 20 years experience assessing and managing ESG risks, project development & green metals processing technology, R&D and commercialisation. Broad mining, smelting & climate change strategy and due diligence experience, in addition to Board level ESG advisory & counsel for North American and African mining & metals processing groups. Broad (20+ countries) African work experience, in addition to significant European, South and North American exposure. Leadership & advisory positions in Canadian mid tier mining, metals and technology groups operating in Africa, North America & Eastern Europe. Currently VP at Dundee Sustainable Technologies focusing on sustainability performance, businesses development & implementation of proven, clean (non cyanide) proprietary gold processing technologies (CLEVR) & arsenic waste stabilization (GLASSLOCK). Developing an arsenic trioxide Glasslock plant in Ghana targeting the vitrification of legacy hazardous waste for a mining major. Leveraging DPM Tsumeb experience, Brent conceived and led the conceptualisation, scoping and feasibility studies for Namibia’s first international class hazardous waste facility in. A facility has been needed for some time to address critical hazardous waste management deficiencies, especially related to the minerals and nascent oil and gas sector. The project has recently been approved by the Namibian authorities. Experienced leading corporate ESG strategy, Board & CSR reporting, ESIAs, mine closure, hazardous waste, energy efficiency, decarbonization strategy, due diligence & audit investigations- including relative to international development bank performance standards. From 2010 to 2017, key part of team responsible for improving HSE and governance performance to de-risk a multi-million dollar metallurgical project in Namibia - effectively re-establishing social & political license. Author & co-author of 20 technical papers on a range of topics including corporate sustainability, fin. sector ESG risk, arsenic management, radio-nuclide env. decontamination and heavy metal occ. health monitoring and performance.
