About Brent Kaplan

I'm a Data Scientist at Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. I'm passionate about behavioral economics and behavioral science, with deep experience in experimental design, data analysis (primarily in R), and turning complex results into clear, actionable insights. Throughout my career, I've published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and have presented at more than 40 invited symposia and conferences around the world. I've contributed as a reviewer to over 30 academic journals and have coauthored a book and seven book chapters. I'm also honored to have received several prestigious awards, including the American Psychological Association’s Division 25 and Division 28 Outstanding Dissertation Awards and the Division 25 B. F. Skinner Foundation New Researcher Award. I am a strong advocate for advanced statistical methods, such as multilevel modeling and Bayesian analyses, particularly for behavioral economic and experimental psychology research. To help make some of these techniques accessible, I developed the R Shiny app, shinybeez, which lets users easily analyze behavioral economic demand and discounting data online or locally—completely free. Additionally, I developed and maintain two R packages, beezdemand and beezdiscounting, to simplify analyses of behavioral economic data.
