About Brent MacArthur

I am a Business Intelligence Professional experienced in both technical and business roles. I started my career on the business side in the accounting department followed by working in an IT department so I understand the need for number-based accountability through technical operations and project enhancements. My career has now transitioned to a BI and analytics role. Business Analytics I enable analytics to expand organizational knowledge and extend the value of data well beyond the traditional uses of knowing what, when, and how much. I use analytics for exploration and experimentation to be able to answer the really hard questions of why things happened. I achieve this through self-service analytics, custom queries, and interactive Tableau dashboards. Business Intelligence Practices I create business opportunities by getting the right information to the right people at the right time. My overall goal is to enable the organization to plan, predict, solve problems and learn in new ways to increase organization knowledge. Data Visualization I employ visualization techniques to see meaning in the data by turning large amounts of complex data into understandable, insightful, and compelling business communications. I start first by listening to the business community to understand the underlying data needs with the goal to create good visual design that effectively communicates – most commonly comparisons, proportions, relationships, or patterns. Information Technology At Wells Fargo Bank, performed the role of Sr. PC/LAN Analyst, with responsibility for nearly all IT functions within the Risk Asset Review (RAR - credit auditing) division, including SQL Server database administration, data backups, security, AD administration, and desktop support. Enjoyed a high level of autonomy, with the ability to explore and experiment with new approaches to providing business value.
