About Brent Murray

I am currently a PhD Candidate at the University of British Columbia in the Integrated Remote Sensing Studio (IRSS). I will be focusing on predicting tree species and wood quality with data fusion techniques and deep learning algorithms. I have graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Geomatics for Environmental Management where I completed a Capstone project looking at forest resiliency after major wildfire events in British Columbia. I attained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Geography from the University of Winnipeg which I focused in Geomatics and completing my thesis titled: Forest Structure Mapping Using Multi-Temporal Sentiel-1 Data in Robson Creek, Australia. As a result of the completion of my thesis I interned in Australia applying my methods to a larger study. Through my experience interning in Australia and completing my thesis I have developed skills automating methods for Geomatics using Python programming and using Big Data techniques.
