I am currently employed by Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Field Service Engineer within the Transmission Electron Microscopy group. I completed my PhD in 2021 at RMIT University. My research involves looking into the high pressure high temperature phases of carbon. I have considerable hands-on experience with different types of Diamond Anvil Cells (DAC) as a method for pressure application to produce structural changes. During my PhD I was employed at the RMIT Microscopy and Microanalysis Facility (RMMF) as a duty electron microscopist where I taught and helped new and existing users how to operate the equipment in our laboratory including, transmission electron microscopes, scanning electron microscopes and focused ion beam. I have significant experience with multiple methods of sample thinning in preparation for transmission electron microscopy. These include Focused Ion Beam lamella and Drop Cast preparation. I have many hours of hand-on operational experience with Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). I also have several hours of service experience with TEMs. I am capable of independently forming Dark Field and Bright Field Images, Select Area Diffraction Patterns and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy in the TEM. Further, I have had extensive experience with using such patterns for crystal structure analysis. I have considerable expertise in High Resolution Imaging and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy.
