About Brenton Johnson
I am the founder and farm manager of Johnson’s Backyard Garden (JBG), an organic vegetable farm and CSA (community supported agriculture) operation in Austin, TX. I initially began seriously thinking about food production in the early 1990s. I believe that human energy consumption practices need some serious reconsideration. Born in Alabama, I grew up with an awareness of the challenges facing farmers. Through my work with JBG, I have aimed to strike a balance between these challenges and the resource-consuming aspects of food production. I continue to strive for constant improvement and community involvement through the most earth-friendly, biodynamic-conscious, organic farming methods.
