About Bret McLaughlin
Dr. McLaughlin is a licensed psychologist and the founding Dean of the College of Psychology at California Northstate University. He has worked for the Department of State Hospitals where he was a recognized expert witness on mental health and the evaluation of dangerousness in California courts. In the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation he served as the Vice Chair of the Psychology Department at the California Medical Facility and was the Chief Psychologist and the Chief of Mental Health at the California Health Care Facility. At CHCF Dr. McLaughlin was a member of the on boarding team where he helped the hospital through Joint Commission accreditation. While it's Chief, he was responsible for the management, operations, and delivery of mental health services and grew the department to over 160 employees. After leaving state service, Dean McLaughlin created the College of Psychology doctoral program at CNU, leading it through WASC, BPPE, and APA accreditation.
