About Bret Robinson

Looking for a good fit in distribution in the Indianapolis area. With 20 years of Distribution, Manufacturing, Retail and Wholesale Management, as well as a successful distribution consultant, I pride myself in my ability to evaluate facilities, find critical failures, and start improvements on day one. My recent work with True Brands DC on the NE side is the latest example. The building and yard were choked with trash, discarded equipment, and scrap skids; Inbound freight had piled up; accidents were frequent; our shipping vendor was charging us daily for full containers that sat in the yard for weeks; turnover was epidemic; the departments had siloed, making downstream departments victims; customer orders were regularly late; cost of sales had climbed to 7% of sales. Eight months later, the facility has far to go, but the building is clean, safe, and efficient, merchandise is flowing in and out of the facility, and cost of sales, as of December, is at the target of 5%. Of course, this was a team effort. The crew were talented enough, but there was no plan when I arrived except "work harder". I worked hard with the management team to list and prioritize problems, construct solutions, and helped daily with the hard part-changing. I enjoy my work, especially opportunities to educate and mentor management teams and associates, fix problems, and break down barriers between departments to eliminate mistakes, delays, and frustration.
