About Brett Clark

Brett is the Chief Financial Officer of Mpact Limited, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and one of the largest packaging companies in Africa with over 40 operating sites and employees. Brett comes to Mpact Limited from his previous roles as Principal at Absa Capital Private Equity and as an Executive Director of Brait Private Equity, being two of the largest Private Equity firms in South Africa. Prior to this Brett was also the CFO of Unihold Limited, an IT company listed on the JSE and worked for Nampak Limited in various positions in South Africa and the United Kingdom. Through Brett’s unique career history as a CFO of two listed Companies and as a Principal in Private Equity, he has been responsible for numerous acquisitions and the raising of debt and equity capital. He has also been intimately involved in businesses across a broad spectrum of industries and through this experience has learnt what makes businesses successful and how to allocation capital effectively between these various businesses or projects. As an example, Brett took advantage of the favorable debt markets in 2019 and restructured all Mpact Limited’s debt facilities with a consortium of banks into covenant light, long term funding. This has meant that despite the negative effects that the Covid-19 lockdown has caused on the company’s results, Mpact Limited has met all its debt covenants and has ample headroom in its facilities. Brett has been responsible for developing and implementing various business strategies and has supplemented these experiences with learning gained in attending the prestigious Advanced Management Program (“AMP”) at Harvard Business As CFO, Brett is responsible for leading a large financial and shared services team and is an executive director of Mpact Limited. He was a finalist in the CFO of the Year award and was recognised by investors through winning the Investment Analyst Society - Communication and Reporting Award. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CASA) and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
